Audiojack’s first release of 2012 is a sublime deep house treat.
The original mix of Stay Glued is a definite standout, from the slightly crunchy/wavy bass to the hypnotic vocal sample and all the delicious sounds in between, as Kevin Knapp repeats on the track “thought i told you, my beat will control you.” Bad Influence the second track possesses a deep groovy bassline guaranteed to keep you dancing. That track gets a nice remix treatment from Bristol duo Waifs & Strays who chop the vocals a little more while keeping it deep and groovy.
While I find myself enjoying the original mix most, Stay Glued also gets two fantastic remixes on the EP. The FCL Weemix features a great melody and a breakdown and build that I could see driving a crowd nuts at 4am. Finally the Gorge remix turns the track a little inside out, tuning down the vocals, looping the “beat, beat, beat,” and adding some very fitting plucked 1/8ths. A solid finish to what is a hell of a good release. The full ep drops via Gruuv on vinyl January 30th and finally on Beatport February 6th, be sure to pick it up.
