Here we are, September already. Summer has finally come to an end, and the weather here in St. John’s has definitely been cooling down a bit. Fortunately, that means a lot more of the university kids will be around town soon enough. A large portion of university folk (when they aren’t studying) are known party, get drunk and dance a lot, so during my hunt for new bangers to kick off the upcoming frosh week festivities, I stumbled across a new kitty gem from Spanish label Suara. I found this killer new EP titled Don’t Go Away, which is the result of an epic house music showdown between Belgian producers Kolombo & Loulou Players.
The title track packs a hypnotizing deep house sound with some nice low end bumpin’ bass rhythms, trippy vocal loops that will have you crackin’ a smile in no time, and a whole lot of psychedelic synth madness. The remix support by Zombie Disco Squad and Snuff Crew is also some serious dopeness that has my exhausted ass dancing here on the couch. ZDS come through with that signature jackin’ classic big room house sound that they seem to never fail at (ever), and Snuff Crew deliver a deep gem with a very nice old school Chicago throwback vibe. Nanana is a French-house inspired disco banger, ’nuff said.
